Duo Koleva / van Otterloo Spring Tour
Specially for their Bulgarian tour, duo Koleva / van Otterloo offer the program BEST OF BOTH WORLDS Imagine: put on one stage the leading lady of contemporary percussion music and an experienced all-round jazz player who plays the whole range of saxophones. The result: An explosive mix of styles and energy. The freedom and emotions of improvisations and the richness and contemplation of strictly composed music. This is what the duo Koleva / van Otterloo present on stage: The Best of Both Worlds. In their intriguing program the duo plays the piece HOUT ( Wood ), written by the most celebrated Dutch composer Louis Andriessen. In this piece the whole concept of the duo comes together: Bach meets BeBop! It is a thrilling canon played in a breathtaking tempo by the duo with special guests Raphael Vanoli on electric guitar and Ana Mihajlovic on piano. And that's not all, the four musicians form an unique ensemble by joining forces as improvisors, composers and performers: Ana MIhajlovic is writing a new composition and will also be de live DJ in this group. Raphael Vanoli- a raising star on electric guitar easily switches between improvisation and written music. 'Best of Both Worlds' includes also highlights of Koleva / van Otterloo's repertoire, that shot the duo onto the road of success: music by Frank Zappa, Duke Ellington, Bill Evans, Jacob ter Veldhuis, arrangements of Bulgarian Folk music and the premiere of the latest composition of David Dramm, all combining virtuosity, musicality and flexibility. concert dates: 15 February 2010 Uilenburger Synagogue, Amsterdam, The Netherlands www.leosmit.nl 5 March 2010 Bimhuis, Amsterdam, The Netherlands www.bimhuis.nl 6 March 2010 Hot House, Leiden, The Netherlands www.leidsjazztrio.nl 17 - 21 March 2010 Duo Koleva / van Otterloo - Bulgarian Tour special guests: Raphael Vanoli - electric guitar and Ana Mihajlovic - piano & live dj 17 March 2010 National Palace of Culture, Sofia, Bulgaria www.ndk.bg 19 March 2010 City Art Gallery, Varna, Bulgaria www.varnamuseum.com 21 March 2010 March Music Days, Rousse, Bulgaria www.marchmusicdays.eu 22 April 2010 Provadja, Alkmaar, The Netherlands www.provadja.nl |
