Under the name Youth Percussion Pool, the organization of the Festival & percussionist Tatiana Koleva have invited young talented percussionists, all of them already international prize - winners, to take part in this project that will result in series of performances and as highlight the Percussion Extravaganza concert on the 29th of July at the spectacular location of the Archaeological Museum of Varna. This event is the First edition of the Youth Percussion Pool. The ambition and plans are to make it a regular annual event based in Bulgaria. Several outstanding and renown performers and organizations have expressed a good will to assist in the future and this is promising to become rapidly an important International event. This ongoing project will function as a platform for exchange, collaboration, workshops and mixed performances of young talented musicians and their teacher & coaches in the field of classical and modern percussion and chamber music. Next to the well known percussion repertoire, there will be focus on new music: each edition will have ( at least one ) world premiere of a work specially created for the Percussion Pool. This year that will be the Barracuda Septet by Jacob ter Veldhuis arranged for (extended) marimba solo and percussion ensemble by Ana Mihajlovic.
