SUMMER ACADEMY COURSE
INTERNATIONAL MUSIC-SUMMER GELDERLAND PERCUSSION MUSIC COURSE with Tatiana Koleva 11-24 August 2008, Apeldoorn, The Netherlands This summer a series of ensemble and chamber music coaching sessions will be held during the 'Internationale Muziekzomer Gelderland'. It is organized by the NJO (National Youth Orchestra of the Netherlands) and its Summer Academy 2008. Composer in residence is John Adams. Among others, coaching sessions will be organized by Reinbert de Leeuw. The 'Internationale Muziekzomer Gelderland" Festival will be held throughout the province of Gelderland between in August 2008. As part of that, there will also be a focus on a series of coaching sessions for percussion and chamber music with percussionist Tatiana Koleva. The course takes 2 weeks from 11th through 24th of August 2008 and includes two main projects in different settings: - "Percussion Ensemble" program varying from duo's to five or six percussionists with music by: Reich, Paliev, Ford, Cage, Kagel, Zappa, Takemitsu - "Music for Pianos & Percussion" with music by: Bartok, Lutoslawski, Bernstein. The piano duo's will be coached by the renown pianist Igor Roma, a First Prize winner at the 'Franz Liszt' International Competition in Utrecht (The Netherlands). Focus will be on ensemble / communication and balance techniques, sound approach and instruments choice, stage performance, repertoire choice, new literature for- and with percussion and marimba. In addition to that there will be two days of master classes with individual lessons. Coaching/master classes are free of charge. This course will result in a series of concerts which will take place on various special and remarkable locations throughout Gelderland. The program is open for students of 18-28 years old. There will be no auditions held.
